Hodge denied the accusation. Though he was an Australia's premier domestic batsmen he was concentrating on the selection because of 2000 – 2001 seasons in which Brad scored many runs for Victoria. This made his consistency came together. Playing against Queensland for Victoria on 21 November 2007 Hodge made his highest Pura Cup score of 286 not out.
