Alex Karras - Fotball Player, Professional Wrestler, and Actor

The nick name of Alex Karras is "The Mad Duck". His full name is Alexander George "Alex" Karras and he is a former football player, professional wrestler, and actor.

He was born on July 15, 1935 in Gary in the state of Indiana, Unites States. From 1958-1962 and 1964-1970 he is best known for playing with the Detroit Lions. As the titular character's adoptive father he starred on the ABC sitcom Webster, alongside real-life wife Susan Clark.



Dr. George Karras, a Greek immigrant who graduated from the University of Chicago and got his medical degree in Canada is Alex father. There George Karras, Alex father met and married a Canadian woman who is Alex mother. His father opened a medical practice in Gary, Indiana as he was a doctor. Alex was 13 years old when he lost his father. In a parking lot near his home by that time Alex Karras had learned to play football. At Gary Emerson High School he was blossomed into a four-time Indiana all-state selection.

Lou who was a future member of the Redskins and Ted who later played with the Bears and Lions are his elder brothers played at Purdue. Later Ted transformed to Indiana. "Indiana had the inside track" said by Alex because of this. But shortly, several coaches from the University of Iowa took Alex up to Spencer, Iowa as soon as he graduated high school. These coaches persuaded him to sign with the Hawkeyes. To keep him away from rival recruiters the coaches had taken Alex to secluded Spencer.

With his coach, Forest Evashevski, with classwork, and homesickness Alex struggled his first few years at Iowa. Alex in 1991 selected to the College Football Hall of Fame and in 1977 to the Iowa Sports Hall of Fame. To Bob Lombardi Alex also worked briefly as a football coach in 2007 and 2008 for SIL as an assistant coach.
